If you like your drinks with “award winning” attached, you can’t look past South Australia’s Twenty Third Street Distillery – who have just won a swag of medals for their brandy, gin, and whisky at the prestigious San Francisco Spirits competition.
The Riverland-based distiller won double gold medals for their craft spirits Not Your Nanna’s Brandy and Signature Gin – only awarded to spirits that are judged to be the finest in the world, and only when all 43 members of the judging panel agree.
They also took home gold for their Prime 5 Brandy, while their Hybrid Whisky took home bronze.
“We are all celebrating here in Renmark what is truly an amazing achievement, as it places our craft spirits right up there with the very best from across the globe,” Twenty Street Distillery’s Head Distiller, Graham Buller says.
“What makes it doubly special is that the four products were launched less than nine months ago when we opened our new Twenty Third Street Distillery.”
The SFSC is considered the most influential and respected spirits competition, and this year was the biggest in its history with more than 2,100 entries from around the world.
“It’s a humbling experience too,” says Graham. “And a credit to all involved, from our team of expert craft distillers to the growers of all the delicious local produce of the Riverland and Adelaide Hills.”
The family-owned distillery is the result of a $6.6 million transformation of an historic distillery on Renmark’s Twenty Third Street, undertaken in part with a $2.3 million State Government grant. Using century-old copper stills, the distiller combines the old with new technology, producing around 1,500 litres of matured spirits during each run.
