Festive fresh with Leah

By Lauren Ferrone

Adelaide hairdresser, Leah Brunoli, knows a fresh cut, colour and blow-dry is a beauty must-have before Christmas.

But Leah and her Fresh Hair & Body team have been giving women festive fresh affordable luxury experiences for about eight years.

It started when Leah was 19 and opened her Mawson Lakes salon.

Today, she has nine Fresh Hair & Body salons across South Australia, and just opened the first CBD Fresh salon in the Myer Centre. A Surfers Paradise salon also opened in July this year.

Despite venturing interstate to open her Queensland salon in July, Leah says South Australia is very much home.

“The Adelaide CBD really was a no brainer for us and has been on the cards for a while now, we were just waiting for the right space that we could call home,” she says.

“The Myer Centre gave us the opening we were after, a space that is regularly visited by a great amount of the Adelaide public and that gives busy business types, university students, busy mums, shoppers and tourists the opportunity to come in and receive our services at a convenient location.

“After opening nine other salons across the Adelaide suburbs and on the Gold Coast, it seemed ridiculous to not have a salon in the heart of the city that started it all for us.

“It’s extremely important for us to stay Adelaide based. South Australians are the ones who have supported my business to make it what it is today.”

Leah says “supporting South Australia is number one” for her business.

“I love to be able to create jobs for those seeking to work hard; it is one of the greatest satisfactions that I get from being a CEO,” she says.

From the early days of running the salon by herself, Leah now employs more than 40 people; including a team of marketing interns and a graphic designer.

Leah’s love for South Australia is present in the services she offers clients.

“We have a station where specific blow-dries are named after South Australian locations, like Miss Hyde, Miss Lakes, Miss Agnes, and Miss Adelaide, and others,” she says.

For Leah, being part of the Adelaide market is “something special”.

“South Australians love to help and see each other succeed – there really is nothing better than knowing someone local is reaching their dreams and truly making it.

“Fresh has really been adventure without a map so far, I never expected it to become the empire that it has.”
