Chooseday picks: 8 winter warmers

By Lana Guineay

Happy Chooseday! Whether big or small, every local purchase makes a difference, so make every Tuesday your day to choose SA and support local.

There are so many amazing businesses, goods and services to choose from in our state – Chooseday is a chance to celebrate our great state and show your support.

With a cold snap hitting the state, for our first ever Chooseday we’ve rounded up 8 ways to warm up and shop local at the same time:

1. Mulled wine

It’s mulled wine season! Time to head to the beach. Yes really. As the wild weather rolls on outside, you can nestle in at Henley Square’s Molobo, with hot toddies, mulled wine and Irish coffee all on the menu. In the CBD? La Moka have mulled wine on offer only for the next two months – made from an Italian family recipe.

2. Open fire

When it comes to warming up, there are few things as effective (and as pleasurable) as a fireside and a local red. Beresford Estate have you covered – though there are plenty to choose from.

3. Coffee

Get a warm welcome at Colonel Light Gardens’ Bond & Lane Canteen. They also have almond croissants to team with your coffee. Just saying.

4. Hot chocolate

Procure some hot chocolate from Haigh’s or Bracegirdle’s. Spend the night with Netflix. Winter success achieved.

5. Cook up a (warm) storm

Head to the Central Market and stock up on winter veggies and produce. With ingredients this fresh and tasty, they (almost) cook themselves.

6. Brighten up

Grey days call for bright flowers – and the Flower Nook have a range delightful-smelling options to brighten up your desk/ home/ significant other’s face.

7. See a show

There are few cosier ways to spend a frosty night than heading to the theatre, and the Adelaide Festival Centre’s winter program has something for all ages.

8. Travel

Nothing beats the winter blues like booking a mini-getaway, and the Adelaide Hills’ frost is best viewed from the cosy confines of the Hahndorf Resort.
